We told you recently that The Green Lantern is leaving Australia for shores unknown (though Canada and Mexico were mentioned as possibilities) and it’s a fact that Ryan Reynolds has been cast in the lead role and that Martin Campbell is directing.
We told you just a couple of days ago that AICN was reporting that Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen, Nightmare on Elm Street) is at the top of the list for the Villainous role of Sinestro and that they are planning a Superman cameo in The Green Lantern, which they contend is an indicator that DC is looking carefully at what cross-town rival Marvel is doing with its superhero flicks.
Meanwhile, shortly after the AICN report, Collider caught up with Haley himself on the red carpet of Spike TV’s 2009 Scream Awards and asked if there is any truth to the report of him being favored to play Sinestro in Green Lantern.
Haley said,
“I was very shocked to hear that. I heard about it the same way you did,” remarked Haley, adding that nobody has called him in for an audition.
Haley may have denied being cast as Sinestro, but he refused to say that he will not be in Green Lantern either, stating –
“I don’t know anything about it yet,” he said. “If something comes up, I’ll let you know.”
