Classic Avengers trio Thor, Iron Man and Captain America could reunite in an upcoming plotline, it has been reported.

The news broke when a preview image from the November edition of comic book magazine Wizard appeared online. A teaser illustration depicted the three superheroes together, alongside the caption:

“We’ve waited and we’ve begged, but can we finally be close to seeing the classic trinity of Thor, Iron Man and Captain America back together again at the House of Ideas?”

Recent plotlines have seen each character meet with misfortune. Captain America found himself on the losing side in 2006’s Civil War, the events of which resulted in his demise. Iron Man was forced underground by Norman Osborn, while Thor was driven from Asgard by his brother and nemesis Loki. The three characters have not fought side-by-side since Brian Michael Bendis’s take on the Trinity in 2003.

Marvel has yet to offer any official word on the Avengers reunion
