We’ve been telling you a bit about Heroes of Cosplay, which premieres tonight on Syfy after the extended premiere of Face Off Season 5, and you’ll learn a bit more about it when you watch the extended trailer below. If you’re a fan of Face Off, you’ll recognize some of the work that the cosplayers do for their creations, but otherwise this show is quite a bit different from its lead-in.

It follows a handful of cosplayers – including the one featured in Morgan Spurlock’s Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan’s Hope documentary – as they prepare for the next cosplay competition; in the first episode, it’s the Wizard World convention in Portland.

You’ll get a bit more of the behind-the-back comments by a competitor about the other competitors that is so common in other competition shows and is so rare in Face Off, but you’ll also get a more realistic idea of what cosplay is like in less-structured real life than Face Off.

Regardless, if you’re a fan of costumes, makeup, Comic-Con-like conventions, and/or competition shows, check it out.
