Zoe Kravitz and Sophie Okonedo to Join the Cast of Shyamalan’s AFTER EARTH

Just last month, we brought you the news about Oscar-winning screenwriter Stephen Gaghan (Traffic, Syriana) rewriting the script for director M. Night Shyamalan‘s forthcoming sci-fi film, One Thousand A.E. starring Will Smith (Men In Black III) and his son, Jaden Smith (The Karate Kid).

Now, THR reports that Zoë Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) and Sophie Okonedo (Doctor Who) are both in early talks to join the cast of the film, which has now been retitled After Earth. If they sign on for the project, Kravitz would play Smith’s daughter, and Okonedo will portray his wife.

The story follows a father and son who crash-land on Earth one thousand years after mankind has abandoned the planet. The crash leaves the elder Smith badly injured, and it’s up to the boy to find help in what is now a strange and dangerous place.

After Earth is slated to hit theaters in 2013.
