Back in August we told you that director Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Odysseus) would be replacing Clash of the Titans director Louis Leterrier for Warner Bros. upcoming sequel. The script was written by Dan Mazeau (The Flash) and David Johnson (Red Riding Hood), which was based on a treatment written by Mazeau and Johnson and Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern).

Now, actor Liam Neeson (Unknown, Battleship) who will reprise his role as Zeus in the forthcoming sequel, spoke with the Belfast Telegraph and confirmed that the second installment will be titled Wrath of the Titans. Neeson also indicated that they will start shooting the film next March.

Neeson said,

“I’ve only read half of the script and there is still some work being done – they’re on script 10 – but I think it’s going to be some kick-a** stuff and a very human story to it. We will start next March. I’m very much looking forward to it. It’s a whole revamping, you know.”

When asked whether or not the sequel will be shot in 3D [rather than the much criticized post-conversion to 3D of the first film], Neeson said,

“I don’t know the answer to that.”

Along with Neeson as Zues, both Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton are expected to reprise their roles as Perseus and Io for the sequel. James Franco and Javier Bardem are rumored to be in talks to join the cast as well. Franco would play Poseidon’s son Agenor, and Bardem would play Ares, the god of war.

Wrath of the Titans (Clash of the Titans 2) is slated to hit theaters on March 30th, 2012.
