Just over a week ago, we brought you two international posters for the Matthew Vaughn directed X-Men: First Class. The posters featured James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, and though they weren’t anything to jump up and down about, they were decent posters. The same can’t be said for these most recent posters of the two actors as their characters, Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr.
I’m not sure who at 20th Century Fox is responsible for allowing these to be seen publicly, and whoever created them for the studio should be sent back to whatever digital art school they flunked out of. Check them out below, and continue on for some much better stuff on X-Men: First Class.

I honestly thought these were fan posters at first, and the studio would come out saying “Those aren’t official” but, they’re the real deal… actually, I apologize, that’s an insult to fan-made posters. I’ve seen fan-made posters that are way better than these. I don’t think Matthew Vaughn would have greenlit these posters, had he seen them prior to their release into the wild. I think Vaughn should have had his approval of all marketing materials written into his contract.
As one fan cleverly stated on the studio’s official Facebook page –
“It’s nice to see Fox has a program where they let mentally challenged individuals contribute to their films.”
In better X-Men: First Class news…
The studio released this cool picture of Alex Summers/Havok (Lucas Till), he appears to be testing his powers in what is (possibly) some early incarnation of an area of The Danger Room.
Also… IGN interviewed director Matthew Vaughn on the set of the film, and the director had this to say about the movie:
“This is going to be very different. What I’m doing no one has done in superhero films. It’s James Bond, it’s a political thriller and it’s an X-Men movie”.
“It’s not like the other X-Men movies which I think is important. I think they need to sort of take on a new… you know, what ‘Batman Begins’ did for all those Batman movies? We bloody well need it. I’m not saying it’s going to be as good as Batman Begins, but it’s the same sort of attitude”.
Synopsis:
“X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.”
The film stars James McAvoy, Kevin Bacon, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng, January Jones, Zoë Kravitz, Bill Milner, Michael Fassbender, Álex González, Oliver Platt and Ray Wise.
X-Men: First Class is slated to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2011
