This past Thursday, a star-studded crowd gathered at London’s BT Tower to celebrate the launch of Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray, but this was no ordinary launch party. Actor Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) sporting a shiny golden tie was on hand to ignite the world’s largest lightsaber.
The BT Tower itself was fashioned with appropriately placed lights to create the hilt of the saber, and over sixty, four foot tall, 270 pound, 4,500 watt bulbs shot a beam of light over 650 feet into the air from atop the 620 foot tall tower, creating the world’s largest version of the elegant weapon, from a more civilized age.
