World War Z: Matthew Fox & Ed Harris Vacate the Production

Just a couple of weeks ago, we brought you the news that Matthew Fox (Lost), Ed Harris (Man on a Ledge) had joined the cast of the Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) directed big-screen adaptation of Max Brooks‘ novel, World War Z for Paramount Pictures, alongside James Badge Dale (The Pacific, The Departed) and Brad Pitt.

Now, NYMag reports that Matthew Fox and Ed Harris have both left the film. Fox was reportedly forced to vacate the film, due to scheduling conflicts with I, Alex Cross, which starts shooting in August, and Harris’ negotiations for a role in the film have reportedly fallen through, despite having been in talks for the film since mid-June.

Fox and Harris reportedly had smaller roles in the film, though producers are trying to recast both parts rather quickly, due to the fact that the film is already in production in Malta.

World War Z is slated to hit theaters in 2012.
