WORLD WAR Z Adds David Morse to the Cast; Loses Guns In SWAT Raid

Paramount Pictures’ big-screen adaptation of Max Brooks’ book, World War Z, has seen quite a bit of action recently and we’re not just talking filming action sequences. A few weeks ago, we brought you pictures from the set of the film where Brad Pitt is shooting a fiery action scene on location in London.

Deadline reports that David Morse (The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Treme) has been added to the epic zombie film. Morse will play “a prisoner living in an abandoned jail in World War Z.”

On a darker note, a SWAT team reportedly raided a warehouse in Budapest and seized 85 fully-functional automatic, assault rifles that were being stored for the filming of World War Z. A source for US Weekly says that the root of the problem was that the paperwork accompanying the guns stated that the weapons were non-functional.

The Hungarian Anti-Terrorism Unit released this statement about the seizure:

“This morning a private plane brought guns wrapped in a parcel from a company to an indiv

idual [in Budapest]. Guns like these are highly illegal to transport even if they were to used as stage guns, which hopefully they weren’t.”

A source close to this story said this about the prop issue and that Brad Pitt and his company, Plan B Entertainment is not to blame:

“The movie company’s employees must have made a mistake bringing the guns in without the Anti-Terrorism Unit’s permission.”

World War Z stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a worker at the United Nations Post-War Commission, who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. The film also stars Mireille Enos (The Killing) as Pitt’s character’s wife, Daniella Kertesz in her feature film debut, James Badge Dale (The Departed) and Matthew Fox (Lost). World War Z is directed by Marc Forster with script was written by Matthew Michael Carnahan (State of Play).

World War Z is slated to hit theaters on December 21, 2012.
