The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida has been such a success for both the park and the Orlando area since its opening last summer that Universal Studios and Warner Bros. have decided to spend $200 million on a second theme-park in Hollywood, California.
According to Variety, Universal is hoping to build a second The Wizarding World of Harry Potter with themed areas from the film with an opening date of 2015. It will likely be built on the Universal Studios Hollywood lot, replacing an older attraction.
The Orlando Wizarding World increased attendance of Islands of Adventure by 41% after its first year with more than seven million visitors attending since it opened.
Universal is also looking to open another Wizarding World overseas in South Korea. Any new parks will, of course, require J.K. Rowling’s blessing.
