It has been reported that the upcoming Marvel film, The First Avenger: Captain America could be lensed in the UK. A California-based props maker Gregg Bilson Jr., the owner/operator of Independent Studio Services recently tweeted, “Marvel films is considering filming Captain America in the UK, WTF!” While it’s not uncommon for films to be shot somewhere other than the country/state/city where the story takes place, but for the love of Marvel, this is Captain America! Should it really even be a question that it could be shot anywhere besides the United States?
As fans of the comic books are well aware, The Star-Spangled Avenger’s story starts during the Second World War in Europe, meaning Great Britain is actually a viable locale. Marvel has previously stated that The First Avenger: Captain America will be their most international movie to date, so it’s probably safe to assume that we could see scenes from all over the world.
Rumors of a UK shoot has also raised speculation that certain European-based Marvel characters could be featured in The First Avenger: Captain America, including Captain Britain, and Union Jack – the latter of which fought along side Captain America as part of the Invaders, an Axis-fighting superhero team.
The First Avenger: Captain America is scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2011.
