Dominic Cooper (The Escapist) will reportedly play a younger version of Tony Stark’s father, Howard Stark in Joe Johnston‘s upcoming Marvel Studios film, Captain America: The First Avenger. John Slattery (Mad Men) played the elder Stark in Jon Favreau‘s Iron Man 2.

Though this was stated as a small footnote in an article on Salon and wasn’t elaborated on (or confirmed by the studio as of yet), the fact that Captain America: The First Avenger takes place during World War II, which was 30 years prior to the 1974 Stark Expo footage in Iron Man 2, it would make sense to cast a younger actor to portray him in Johnston’s film.
