Why You Should Watch Tonight’s RAVENSWOOD Premiere

Ravenswood sign wide

Tonight is the premiere of Ravenswood on ABC Family, and here to give you a head’s up on what’s to come are a nifty poster, a new extended trailer, and a featurette that gives you five reasons to watch. I’ve followed that up with a few more reasons of my own, which you can check out below.

Featurette: Ravenswood – 5 Reasons to Watch

More reasons to watch:

MERRITT PATTERSON, TYLER BLACKBURN, NICOLE GALE ANDERSON, BRETT DIER, BRITNE OLDFORD

  • Come on, they’re adorable.
  • You may have read, maybe even here at SciFi Mafia, that Ravenswood is a Pretty Little Liars spinoff. If you are a PLL fan, then YES. YES IT IS. It’s a horror version of PLL. If, however, you have not been devouring PLL, you can pretend that Ravenswood is not a spinoff, and proceed to enjoy tonight’s premiere without worry. I haven’t watched PLL since the first few episodes of Season 1, and I was not at all lost when I previewed the premiere of Ravenswood.
  • It’s less angst-y than The Vampire Diaries, which is also supposedly full of “teens”.
  • The cast, sets, and production values are great. It looks perfectly dark and moody without being too heavy or heavy-handed.
  • One of the main characters, Remy, is played by Britne Oldford, eventually-crazy Alma from American Horror Story: Asylum.
  • Ravenswood is light and fun in spite of its intention of being dark and scary. It’s a guilty pleasure that you can tell people about. And…
  • The premiere episode has an ending that will have you searching the internet to see if you can find out what happens next without waiting a week.

Not a bad way to spend an hour. Give it a look.
