I know that a lot of you are also fans of this show.  Spike announces that it is renewing “Deadliest Warrior” for a second season of 13 new episodes next spring.

For those of you not familiar with the show, it pits the skills of two different types of warriors against each other.  This is not just any willy-nilly match up.  They chose warriors of different time periods and origins to fight.  “Deadliest Warrior” has experts from both sides come and make their case on which warrior would prevail.  With high tech equipment they are able to quantitatively measure carnage, power, and other elements that make the warrior a deadly force to be reckoned with.

Such match ups in the first season include, “Spartan vs. Ninja”, “Shaolin monks vs. Maori”, “William Wallace vs. Shaka Zulu”, and “Green Beret vs. Spetsnaz”. (pic to right is from “Viking vs. Samurai”)

I will have to say that one of my favorite sounds in the world is the ‘gong’ sound of a Spartan shield hitting… anything!

According to Variety:

[“Deadliest Warrior”] averaged 1.8 million viewers in its first season, ranking second in its timeslot in cable among men 18-49 and 18-34 (behind TNT’s coverage of the NBA playoffs) and becoming the highest-rated freshman on Spike since 2005.
