Last month, we brought you an eye-witness report on Ridley Scott’s “prequel” to his sci-fi iconic film Alien, entitled Prometheus, from the 2011 San Diego Comic Con panel, courtesy of our own Erin Willard. Amongst the panel lead by writer Damon Lindelof (Lost), interview with Charlize Theron, video uplink with director Sir Ridley Scott on set in Iceland, and a video montage, a bit of casting news had escaped Comic Con and only emerged now.
According to the St. Petersburg Times (via TampaBay.com), Patrick Wilson, who played Dan Dreiberg aka Nite Owl in 2009’s Watchmen, has been cast in Prometheus.
Here’s how the article mentioned Wilson’s casting:
“Wilson will need to leverage everything he’s learned from Shorecrest [Prepatory School] to a new role in the highly anticipated Alien prequel Prometheus (directed by original Alien auteur Ridley Scott) for his latest challenge — creating a rare TV drama success on Fridays.”
Presumably, Wilson shot his role before filming his upcoming fall TV drama on CBS, A Gifted Man, where he stars as “a selfish surgeon visited by the spirit of his dead wife.”
No details were made known about what character Wilson will be playing, but keep it here on SciFi Mafia for the latest on Prometheus!
Prometheus stars Noomi Rapace, Logan Marshall-Green (Devil), Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), Charlize Theron (Snow White and the Huntsman), Idris Elba (Thor), Sean Harris (A Lonely Place to Die), and Kate Dickie (The Pillars of the Earth).
Prometheus is slated to hit theaters on June 8th, 2012.
