world of steam wide

At the time of this post The World of Steam has only one episode posted, but there looks to be at least two more well in the works. It’s long for a web series, at a little of 15 minutes, but a ton has gone into the concept and production.

The story of the first episode of The World of Steam, A Clockwork Heart, relies very little on dialogue. The is an introduction at the start and a final word, but the heart of the story is told through an amazing animated silhouette series followed by a live action montage.

This episode’s story follows a man after the recent death of his wife. Here’s the synopsis. Followed by the episode.

Hieronymous Smythe has lost his wife, and tries to rebuild his shattered heart… from clockwork. But unfortunately he has not considered if you can do something, whether or not you should…

You can support the funding of this web series through kickstarter donations, t-shirt or jewelery purchases, or you can actually buy the episode. More information on all these can be found on The World of Steam website.

Without the power of dialogue, this episode leans on its music. Stay tuned later today for our review of the soundtrack forĀ The World of Steam composed by one of our favorites, Bear McCreary.

I give World of Steam Five out of Five Stars.
