This will be our second week doing a new series of posts here at SciFi Mafia that we’re calling Web Series Wednesday where we devote a space to the wonderment of the web series. Every Wednesday we’ll cover two awesome web series shows and give you all the info to get into them.
If you’ve got a favorite web series you’d like us to cover, head on over to the Contact Us page and shoot us your request. To catch up on past Web Series Wednesday posts click here.
This week we’re covering Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog and Space Janitors.
I’m not going to judge you if you live in such a way (under a rock, perhaps) where you may have never heard of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog. That’s fine. If you are that person then it is my DUTY to direct you to the best entertainment $8 can buy. The rest of you know the genius of which I speak and can freely skip down to the next web series.
Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog starring Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day and Nathan Fillion and created by Joss Whedon is one of the best things to come to the internet EVER. It gives a sympathetic light to the villain (Harris) in contrast to the hero which could be Nathan Fillion’s finest role. Here’s the trailer.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog is available in three acts on iTunes or buy the Blu-ray or Captain Hammer t-shirt from their website.
I first discovered the Space Janitors over on the Geek and Sundry YouTube channel on my break from The Guild (which we’ll cover next week). It’s a great, smart, hysterical look at a loose version of Star Wars through the eyes of its working class janitors. Not only are the actors funny and the story irresistible but the special effects are pretty good for a web series and they have a few extras videos, including bloopers and what they do with green screens, that are really cool.
