Tonight’s special 90-minute season 2 finale of Paranormal Witness is the kind of episode that makes me glad that I don’t live in an older home with a history. And that I got to screen it during the full daylight hours. Make no mistake, this is a serious haunting. It is, in fact, the story of the first nationally televised exorcism. Here is a clip and the details:

In the true and terrifying story of “The Tenants,” Chicago newlyweds Ed and Marsha Becker become homeowners for the first time after buying a “two-flat” in 1970. Soon after moving in, paranormal activity – flickering lights, plates flying out of kitchen cabinets – kicks in and Marsha realizes that there are ghostly tenants living in the house with them. While rooting around in the basement, Ed discovers sinister secrets about the house’s former occupants. When the paranormal activity reaches an all-time high, the Beckers organize an exorcism, which becomes the first nationally televised exorcism in the US when it is broadcast by NBC in April 1971.
The Season 2 Finale of Paranormal Witness airs tonight at 10/9c on Syfy.
