Watch Out Missile Command! Warner Bros. To Acquire SPACE INVADERS Film Rights

Warner Bros is reportedly trying to acquire the movie rights to classic video game Space Invaders. Mark Gordon, Jason Blum and Guymon Casady are lined up to produce a feature film based on the title. The studio has to buy the rights from Japanese company Taito first, who drew inspiration from films like The War of the Worlds and Star Wars when creating the game in the late 1970s.

Last year, Warner bought Midway, the US publisher of Space Invaders. The studio is also developing another feature based on the game Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

This news comes on the heels of Fox picking up the rights to the Atari game Missile Command… what’s next? Centipede: The Movie
