Warner Bros To Pull HARRY POTTER DVDs From Circulation at the End of this Year

Oculus repairo! Yes, you’re reading the headline right. Warner Bros have set a date to cease shipping any Harry Potter DVDs and Blu-rays to stores. If you’re collecting Harry Potter, you’d better get moving or else shop secondhand to obtain the volumes you’re missing!

THR reports that this Warner Bros decree will go into effect on December 29, 2011, which will give you only a little over a month to snag the last chapter of the hit film franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 that will be released on November 11th along with the complete collection: Harry Potter: The Complete Eight-Film Collection.

This will undoubtedly make the Harry DVDs an exceptionally hot item this holiday shopping season. Disney employs this type of sales strategy for its home video titles for controlled release periods to boost sales and then puts them “back in the vault”. Warner Bros made this decision with other titles of note including The Wizard of Oz, Singin’ in the Rain, and Casablanca.

The Harry Potter franchise has grossed more than $12.1 billion since it began in 2001 with $7 billion in the worldwide box office and $5.1 billion for Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
