Warner Bros. Pictures Hires Writer to Pen Script for JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie

In March of last year, we brought you a story about new Warner Bros. president, Jeff Robinov talking about Robinov betting on DC Comics characters to take the place of the Harry Potter franchise as the studio’s big-budget tentpole films.

Robinov said,

“Starting in June with the $200-million-plus production “Green Lantern.” He’s then aiming to release new “Batman” and “Superman” films in 2012 and “Justice League,” a teaming of DC’s top heroes, in 2013.”

Of course, DC Comics fans around the world were grateful for the spark of hope that Robinov gave for a Justice League film, though at the time tempered their enthusiasm, as this wasn’t the first time they were told the league would hit the big-screen.

After the big-screen success that Marvel Studios and Disney are (still) enjoying, thanks to Joss Whedon’s big-screen superhero team-up, The Avengers, it would seem a “no brainer” to bring the first comic book team to theaters post-haste.

Now, Variety reports that Warner Bros. Pictures has hired Will Beall, writer of Gangster Squad, and the forthcoming remake of Logan’s Run to pen the script that will finally unite the DC heroes onscreen.

Justice League of America may (or may not) actually come to theaters in 2013.
