Warner Bros. Pictures Has a New I AM LEGEND Movie In the Works

While it wasn’t the worst movie in the world, do you think that 2007’s I Am Legend, based on Richard Matheson‘s 1954 novel of the same name, starring Will Smith was deserving of a sequel or prequel? Of course in Hollywoodland, the studios only look at box office and since the original scored almost $600 million, it’s certainly ripe for another visit to the theater.

Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures has already closed deals with Akiva Goldsman and Overbrook Entertainment to produce another film, with the intention of Will Smith (After Earth, Men In Black III) returning to his role as scientist Robert Neville. It’s not immediately clear whether or not the film will be a prequel or a sequel, but Will Smith reportedly won’t commit until the script is ready.

No production or release dates have been announced for the as yet Untitled I Am Legend Sequel.
