Warner Bros. Goes Looney for RASCAL RACCOON’S RAVING REVENGE


A film adaptation of Oni PressRascal Raccoon’s Raving Revenge is heading to the big screen. Warner Bros. Pictures is revisiting familiar Looney Tunes-type toons with this adaptation of the graphic novel where the happy toons called Merries battle the baddies toons called Meanies in a mix of live action and CGI.

THR reports that Warner Bros. Pictures has tapped A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas director Todd Strauss-Schulson to direct and scribe Matt Fogel (Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son) to adapt the graphic novel. Rascal Raccoon was created by Brendan Hay and Justin Wagner. The graphic novel was published last December.

Oni Press’ Eric Gitter will produce the project with Noah Greenshner of Oni’s production banner of Closed on Mondays and Strauss-Schulson’s production partner Ken Franchi will serve as executive producer under their banner of Ulterior Productions alongside Oni’s Joe Nozemack.

Synopsis:

“Welcome to Toonie Terrace, home of the fun-loving Merries and their jealous, bitter rivals, the Meanies. For all their shenanigans, no Meanie has ever murdered a Merrie… until now! After thousands of painful failed attempts, Rascal Raccoon has finally killed his arch-nemesis, the charming and adorable Jumpin” Jackalope. Rascal is overjoyed, but there”s one problem: what does he do now? With nothing left to obsess over, Rascal”s life falls apart. Fortunately, he soon finds a new target for his anger: the animator who created him!”
