Warner Bros. Drops He-Man Movie, No Longer Has ‘The Power Of GraySkull’

He-Man-Masters-of-the-Universe-he-man-604199_500_768Warner Bros has parted ways with Mattel and halted production on an updated Masters of the Universe movie.

Joel Silver had been developing the live-action reinvention of the He-Man franchise, but the producer has had a disagreement over the film’s direction with toy-makers Mattel, reports Variety.

The storyline was expected to follow He-Man’s alter ego Prince Adam on a quest to find his destiny. Along the way, he would stumble on the magical place of Eternia, where he finds the evil Skeletor has raised a technological army intent on eradicating all traces of magic.

Mattel is expected to pursue the project elsewhere, and director John Stevenson is likely to remain on board.

The He-Man character was previously turned into a 1987 feature film starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella.
