Ubisoft has confirmed that it is working on a version of Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The game will be made available in the App Store in the US on November 17, the same day that Assassin’s Creed II is released on the consoles.
Designed as a 2D platformer, the game involves players guiding lead character Ezio around parts of Renaissance Italy and doling out summary justice on various people.
Ubisoft producer Ben Mattes unveiled the project yesterday during Apple’s Annual iPod Conference.

While showing a gameplay video, he said that the title will feature “visceral combat, brutal hand-to-hand and wicked one-shot kills”, along with exploration and customization.
The latter includes players being able to upload their own face onto wanted posters dotted throughout the game by using the image library in the handheld device.
Controls will involve using an on-screen slide to dictate left and right movement, with buttons activating weapons and other aspects.
Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery is being developed for the Nintendo DS and is scheduled for release on November 20. Ubisoft is also working on Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines for the PSP.
