UNDERWORLD 4 Gets Premiere Date, a New Title, and We Get a Look at the Production


In April, we brought you news that actress India Eisley (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) would be joining up on the cast of Underworld 4. This fourth film of the Underworld franchise is becoming even more interesting with a change in title: Underworld: New Dawn is now called Underworld: Awakening.

Now, Underworld: Awakening has a premiere date. Collider reports that Sony has set a January date for the film just around the corner for us in 2012. Mark your calendars for Underworld: Awakening to premiere on January 20, 2012.

Underworld: Awakening will have a presence at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 22, 2011 in Hall H at 1:30pm. Scheduled to make an appearance are: Kate Beckinsale, Michael Ealy, Len Wiseman (producer and director of Underworld and Underworld: Evolution), and directors Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein. Synopsis:

Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

The film is being produced by Len Wiseman (The World After), who directed the first two Underworld films. The screenplay was written by Len Wiseman (Underworld, Underworld: Evolution), John Hlavin (The Shield), and Allison Burnett (Gone, Fame). Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein are directing.

Underworld: Awakening is slated to hit theaters in 3D on January 20, 2012.
