TV Review: Continuum: Season 3 Episode 1 “Minute By Minute”

continuumGenre: Sci-Fi | Action | Drama

Network: Syfy

Summary:

At the end of Season 2, Alec Sadler (Erik Knudsen) made the Earth-shattering decision to hijack Kiera’s (Rachel Nichols) chance to get home, in order to save Emily, the girl he loves, from certain death.

This act of desperation condemned Kiera to incarceration by the Freelancers, who are ‘collecting’ time travelers to protect history. Now, Kiera must face the consequences of Alec’s betrayal and somehow escape the Freelancers.

Continuum co-stars Victor Webster (Castle, Melrose Place) as detective Carlos Fonnegra and Erik Knudsen (Jericho, Scream 4), who plays teen tech genius Alec Sadler.

Executive producers of Continuum are series creator Simon Barry (The Art of War), Pat Williams (Smallville), and Tom Rowe (Tin Man). Continuum is a Showcase original series and is produced by Reunion Pictures in association with Shaw Media.

I cannot tell you how happy I am that Continuum is back on. I mean, I watch some other shows but it’s tough to get on my list. I’ve got stuff to do and if I’m not invested, it doesn’t get precious space on my DVR. And while my DVR is set to catch Continuum when it airs live, it’s really just how I get the TV to change itself to the right channel when I sit down Fridays at 10/9c.

So yeah, this season 3 premiere episode of Syfy’s Continuum completely drop kicks your I’ve-got-to-rewatch-what-happened-last-season, or where-can-I-get-recaps-of-season-two. There’s a fantastic three minutes of Previously-On-Continuum that catches you up nicely on all three seasons, and then the episode itself tackles the Previously-On in its own personal Continuum way.

I cannot and will not spoil this episode for you, but this episode starts hot and stays hot. All I will say is that we know that the finale ended with Alec Sadler’s (Erik Knudsen) hand on that time travel device, and this is not one of those times where a premiere episode doesn’t immediately resolve or continue a previous finale. Every action has a reaction, friends. Do not miss this episode. It is going to be a great season.

I give Continuum: Season 3 Episode 1 “Minute By Minute” Five out of Five Stars.
