TRON: Legacy Writers To Pen OUIJA for Universal

Universal has hired the writers of Tron Legacy to pen the screenplay for its Ouija project. The upcoming movie adaptation is part of a six-year deal that the studio has made with toymaker Hasbro to turn its board games into feature-length films.

Scribes Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who also write for Lost, have been tapped to work on the supernatural action-adventure, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The plotline will reportedly center on the novelty item, which has sold 12 million copies since 1966 and lets players spell out messages from spirits. Certain rules of the game, such as to never use the board alone or in a graveyard, have been suggested as potential story arcs.

Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes company was previously announced to produce Ouija.

Kitsis and Horowitz’s next writing effort Tron Legacy will open in cinemas on December 17, 2010.
