Many of the best actors whom we see time and again on sci-fi shows are not playing “sci-fi.” They’re playing great characters who happen to be in “unusual” circumstances. James Callis is one of those. He was exceptional in Battlestar Galactica, making it so easy to hate him and love how awful he was. Like Ben in Lost. Callis’s character in Eureka was a little more ambiguous, as evidenced by the lovely way he helped wrap up the series.

Tonight it looks like he’s going to be pretty straightforwardly evil. Take a look:
