Paramount has confirmed that Tom Cruise has signed on to star in Mission: Impossible 4. J.J. Cruise will produce the film, alongside Abrams, who has not yet signed on to direct the sequel to Mission: Impossible III, which Abrams did direct in 2006. It is assumed that they will look for someone else to direct the film.

Mission Impossible 4 is currently slated for release on Memorial Day (May 27), 2011. The script is being written by Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec and they are expected to go before cameras this Summer.
