We last told you about TNT‘s upcoming series The Last Ship back in May, and we knew then that it wouldn’t be coming to our screens until summer 2014. We had a synopsis back then and a trailer, and a long wait ahead.

Now it’s almost 2014, and happily that is cause for TNT to release a TV spot for the series, and we’re happy to be reminded about it. Here’s that TV spot, followed by the synopsis and trailer from last May as a more complete reminder:

TV Spot: The Last Ship – Next Summer

Trailer: The Last Ship

The story opens with a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoids falling victim to the devastating tragedy. But now the crew and its captain must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors.

We also told you last May that yes, this does sound similar to Syfy’s upcoming (next month) Helix, but this kind of thing has been going on successfully for years, from The Munsters and The Addams Family to Grimm and Once Upon a Time, so we’re not worried. Bring ’em on!

The Last Ship, starring Eric DaneRhona MitraAdam Baldwin, and Tracy Middendorf, premieres summer 2014 on TNT.
