Tim Burton’s Next Project Is Quite Peculiar – MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN

This book is right up Tim Burton’s alley both in story and in style. Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, written by Ransom Riggs, was the subject of a “heated auction” even before the book hit shelves this past summer at which 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment emerged with the rights to adapt the book for film.

According to Deadline, Tim Burton (Dark Shadows, Alice in Wonderland) is in the early stages of negotiations to embark on the film adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. Burton would helm the project and also be involved in securing a writer for the adaptation.

Check out this trailer released in June on book’s story. According to the author, Ramson Riggs, he shot the trailer half at the author’s house and half in abandoned castles in Belgium and Luxembourg. The second video is the “making of” piece led by Riggs. This project has such great creepy potential. Perfect to receive Burton’s influence!

Book Synopsis:

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. And a strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children who once lived here—one of whom was his own grandfather—were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a desolate island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see how Burton takes this book to the big screen!
