Tim Burton is set to create a new stop-motion, 3D adaptation of The Addams Family. The film will be based on the original cartoons by Charles Addams, which appeared in The New Yorker from 1938 to 1988. The rights to the illustrations were acquired by Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me) and producer Chris Meledandri (Ice Age, Robots, Horton Hears a Who!)

The film will have absolutely nothing to do with the 1960s TV series or the 1990s films.
