Thomas Jane Brings Out THE PUNISHER to Clean Up Some Dirty Laundry

Back in 2004, actor Thomas Jane (The Redeemer) portrayed Frank Castle aka The Punisher. Although the film didn’t do very well at the box office, it did rake in a good chunk of change in DVD sales. Critically the film was panned, and while fans were pretty split on the film, even many who didn’t like the film itself, did like Jane in the titular role.

Fast-forward eight years and Thomas Jane, director Phil Joanou, and writer Chad St. John have put together a Punisher fan-film entitled Dirty Laundry.

Jane says of the film,

“I wanted to make a fan film for a character I’ve always loved and believed in – a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It’s been a blast to be a part of from start to finish — we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

Jane later clarified via Twitter that he’s not pushing for a return to the role or anything, that Dirty Laundry is “Just a fan film from Friends of Frank“.

If Marvel does try to bring The Punisher back to the big-screen *again*, I say they let Thomas Jane have total control over the project… apparently he knew what to do with the character from the get-go. Well played, Mr. Jane!
