If you were a fan of The CW’s single season The Secret Circle then you’re familiar with Phoebe Tonkin, who played bad girl teen witch Faye in a beautifully scheming greedy way. She was terrific as a girl with powers, and she was terrific at being, err, witchy, so it seems like a no brainer to want to add her to another supernatural show that has its share of unpleasant characters.

Beginning with episode 3 of the upcoming Season 4, she’ll be playing Hayley, “a wild, sexy and very free-spirited friend with whom Tyler (Michael Trevino) shares a past,” according to TV Guide, which may prove to be trouble for Tyler/Caroline (Candice Accola) relationship.

Showrunner Julie Plec spoke about the character recently, telling TVLine, “Any time a hot, new girl comes to town, somebody’s got to be worried about something. But Tyler and Caroline have a really solid bond, a really solid relationship. So it takes somebody really special to get in the way of that.”

This will also be a reunion of Ms. Tonkin with Australian series H20: Just Add Water castmate Claire Holt, who plays original vampire Rebekah.

The Vampire Diaries Season 4, starring Nina Dobrev, Ian Sommerhalder, Paul Wesley, Candice Accola and Michael Trevino, premieres Thursday, October 11 at 8/7c on The CW.
