The Trailer For TEKKEN Is Finally Here

After what seems like forever since the industry screening of “Tekken” at the American Film Market in Los Angeles in November, we finally have the trailer for the film adaptation of the Namco game “Tekken”.  This is the same trailer described in our previous coverage of the “Tekken” movie.

First Trailer For “Tekken”:

Tekken” stars Luke Goss (Hellboy II, Blade II) as Steve Fox, Jon Foo as Jin Kazama, Cary- Hiroyuki Tagawa (Mortal Kombat, Elektra) as Heihachi Mishima, Gary Daniels as Bryan Fury, Ian Anthony Dale as Kazuya, Kelly Overton as Christie Monteiro, Cung Le (Pandorum) as Marshall Law, and Tamlyn Tomita (Eureka, Heroes) as Jun Kazama.  The film was directed by Dwight H. Little (Murder at 1600) and written by Alan B. McElroy (Spawn, Wrong Turn, The Marine).  The film adaptation follows “Jin Kazama’s quest for revenge against Tekken Corporation chairman, Heihachi Mishima, the man responsible for the death of his mother. The only way for Jin to get close to Mishima is to enter Tekken’s Iron Fist tournament.”

There is still no US release date, but it will be released direct to DVD in the UK on May 4, 2010.

[Commentary]

I know that video game films have a pretty bad rap, but this one looks like fun!  Others may quickly pan this as another crappy film adaptation of a classic arcade game, but I daresay that this looks like it has more of a plot than last year’s “Ninja Assassin” (though that wasn’t based on a video game, it is the most recent martial arts action movie of a similar feel that I can draw comparisons to). I’m still willing to give it a go.
