We’ve been telling you about this show for some time, but now that the family’s complete, we’re feeling quite hopeful that it’s actually going to happen – well, at least that the pilot is going to happen.
Mockingbird Lane has gone through some major revisions over the days, weeks, and months, but with Pushing Daisies‘ Bryan Fuller at the helm, we are SO hopeful for something wonderful. And with Portia de Rossi (Better Off Ted, Arrested Development) now cast as Lily Munster, we have even more reason for that hope.
She joins Jerry O’Connell as the attractive version of Herman Munster, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Mason Cook as Eddie, and Charity Wakefield as Cousin Marilyn. We had reported last week about Mariana Klaveno as a possible candidate for the role, though she had a prior commitment with Devious Maids. Though Ms. Klaveno definitely had the look of Lily, Portia de Rossi is absolutely terrific and her casting is a coup.
The news was broken by THR, who also reported that this version of the reboot of The Munsters is darker and edgier that was written in the first version of the pilot. We’re getting more and more and more hopeful for this one. Again, it’s only the pilot, NBC hasn’t yet given it a green light for a series run, but we will, clearly, keep you posted.
