The Hunger Games: Caprica’s Paula Malcolmson Joins The Cast

Just last week we brought you the news that relatively new actress, Willow Shields (Beyond the Blackboard) scored the role of Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) sister, Primrose “Prim” Everdeen. This was after various casting announcements throughout the week for the roles of various Tributes in the film, including Dayo Okeniyi, Amandla Stenberg, Levin Rambin and Jack Quaid.

Now, THR reports that Paula Malcomson (Caprica, Sons of Anarchy) has joined the cast of the Gary Ross (Pleasantville) directed big-screen adaptation of the first novel in Suzanne Collins‘ best selling trilogy, The Hunger Games. Malcomson will portray the mother of Katniss and Primrose “Prim” Everdeen.

In Collins’ books, Katniss and Prim’s mother is grieving after her husband’s death, living in fear that her daughters will participate in the deadly Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games is slated to hit theaters on March 23rd, 2012.
