The Final Five Contenders For The Lead Role In Marc Webb’s Spider-Man Reboot

We brought you a report just a few weeks ago about screenwriter Alvin Sargent being brought on board to polish up the script for the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot, directed by Marc Webb. We haven’t heard too much in the way of casting yet and most of that has been pure speculation and rumor.

Now, THR is reporting that they are down to five actors who could star as the web slinger in the film. They report that the final five candidates are Jamie Bell (The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn), Alden Ehrenreich (Tetro), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Andrew Garfield (The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus) and Josh Hutcherson (Journey to the Center of the Earth).

Director Marc Webb has reportedly been meeting with numerous candidates and while these are some of the top contenders for the role, Webb and the studio are still looking at other candidates.

A Columbia Pictures spokesperson told THR,

“There have been a number of names floated online and almost every week, someone calls with a new rumor. We are not commenting on the casting process or rumors such as these.”
