Warner Bros. Pictures has officially announced that Anne Hathaway (Love and Other Drugs) has been cast as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Tom Hardy (Inception, Warrior) has been set to play Bane in director Christopher Nolan‘s forthcoming, final entry in his Bat-Trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. The duo will star alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Nolan said of Hathaway,
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”
Nolan said of Hardy,
“I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”
Christopher Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Goyer will also produce the film with Charles Roven and Nolan’s longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas.
The Dark Knight Rises is slated to hit theaters on July 20th, 2012.
