There’s a lot in the works at The CW right now. It’s like they took the time to write a special love letter to sci-fi fans with this turnout of shows. Fasten your safety belts because we’ve got quite the round up for you. Stay tuned until the end of the post for one show that didn’t make the cut.
Oxygen is written and produced by Meredith Averill (The Good Wife) and no news if it’s begun casting. It will be about aliens coming to cohabit with us humans. The show will follow the integration from the perspective of high school, where romance between an alien and a human is imminent, according to Deadline.
The Hundred is based on an unpublished series by Kass Morgan. Deadline states that it’s set 97 years after civilization on earth has been destroyed by nuclear war. The citizens of Earth have been evacuated to live in space. 100 juvenile delinquents are selected to be shipped back to Earth to determine its ability to be re-inhabited.
The Tomorrow People ran in the UK for 8 seasons from 1973-1979 and producers Greg Berlanti and Julie Plec were big fans of the original series according to Deadline and fought hard to get the rights. It’s a show reminiscent of Alphas or Heroes, that is about people with beyond-human special abilities.
The Originals and The Selection are both shows that we’ve reported on recently. The Originals is a spin off of The Vampire Diaries and The Selection is The Hunger Games meets The Bachelor.
And lastly the DC drama, Amazon, based on Wonder Woman, is going to be shelved for the time being. Don’t fret, though, with such great response from the sucesss of Arrow, we’re bound to get a pilot for this eventually. Deadline reports that more time is needed to perfect the script before it heads into casting.
We will keep you posted on all the latest on Oxygen, The Hundred, The Tomorrow People, The Originals, The Selection and Amazon from the CW.
