The mostly good news from The CW continues, as today during a presentation to the Television Critics Association, president Mark Pedowitz announced that The CW is fast-tracking Flash as a new DC character-based series. It will be an origin story that kicks off with recurring appearances in this fall’s Season 2 of Arrow.

Pedowitz told the TCA that “we plan to introduce a recurring character and an origin story of Dr. Barry Allen, we’ll see how it goes and hopefully it goes well,” according to Huffington Post. “We do want to expand upon the DC universe. There are very rich characters we can use, and we thought this was a good way to do it.”

Deadline first broke the story, and reported that Flash will be written by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns who also has written for Arrow. Berlanti and Kreisberg are expected to run the potential series. Marc Guggenheim, who developed and executive produces Arrow with Berlanti and Kreisberg, is not involved in Flash as he busy with Arrow, now heading into its second season.

As for the bad news – remember, I said “mostly good” – Pedowitz confirmed that the Wonder Woman series they’re calling Amazon is back on hold again. “Amazon is on pause (as) the script is not exactly what we wanted, and with an iconic character like Wonder Woman, we have to get it right.”

Sigh. Yes, I suppose he’s right. We’ll keep you posted, as always.
