Vampires, werewolves, hunters, zombies and now witches. The CW has ordered a pilot for the television adaptation of L.J. Smith’s three-book series, Secret Circle. Smith also wrote The Vampire Diaries series, but that’s not the only thing these two series will have in common. Kevin Williamson will also executive produce Secret Circle in addition to Vampire Diaries.
The pilot’s original script was written by Andrew Miller and Williamson. Secret Circle is produced by Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros TV, and CBS TV who also produce Vampire Diaries.
Secret Circle is about “a young girl who moves to a new town and discovers that not only is she a witch and part of a secret coven, but she’s also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil.”
With Williamson executive producing both of these shows, the companion series to Vampire Diaries has put on hold.
The CW has also ordered a pilot for a new zombie show, Awakening.
