Rumors and wishful thinking surrounding the casting of the trident-wielding Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire have been running rampant over these last few days. Last week, we told you that Lionsgate had Armie Hammer (Lone Ranger, Mirror Mirror), Taylor Kitsch (Battleship, John Carter), and Garrett Hedlund (On the Road, Tron Legacy) in the running for the role.

The LATimes has reported that Kitsch is not actually considering the role at all. Kitsch simply stated that it’s “not going to happen.”

In fact subsequent news from the LATimes reports that producer Nina Jacobson says that they haven’t gotten very far in their casting process:

“We’ve not narrowed things down by any means. It’s funny to see how things can take on a life of their own.”
