Taylor Kitsch, who will star as the title character in the upcoming film John Carter of Mars, and more recently played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine has boarded Peter Berg‘s BATTLESHIP. Kitsch will play Alex Hopper, a young naval officer who leads the humans’ battle against the invading aliens.

Also, Movieline is reporting that Tom Arnold has been cast in the film as well. Arnold’s role is unknown.

Battleship floats into theaters in May 25, 2012.
