It’s always encouraging when more cast members are signed up for a pilot. We already felt pretty solid about Syfy’s Rewind because of Syfy‘s press release about it last month, but still, it never hurts to see that more positive steps are taken in production.
Deadline has broken the news that Oscar-nominated actor Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider), Jennifer Ferrin (The Cape), Keon Mohajeri, and Robbie Jones (Hellcats) have now been added to the cast of the two-hour pilot, joining Shane McRae who had been announced in last month’s press release. Here’s an excerpt from that release to remind us of just exactly what the series is about, and of McRae’s role in it:
Rewind revolves around a team of military field operatives and civilian scientists who must use untested technology to travel back in time to alter past events in order to change the future and avoid a devastating terrorist attack.
McRae will portray Henry Knox, ex-Special Forces who ranks as a field operative in a special division of the Department of Homeland Security. A self-aware, wry, clever and razor-sharp strategic mind, Knox likes to be underestimated. Now, Knox has been recruited for a nearly-impossible top-secret mission: to travel back in time to prevent a devastating terrorist attack.
Okay then! As for the new cast additions, they are team members. Keisha Castle-Hughes will play historian Priya, the team’s historian; Jennifer Ferrin will play Bryce, a scientist; Keon Mohajeri will play Charlie, a mathematician; and Robbie Jones will play Danny, Henry Knox’s (McRae) friend and presumably also a military man.
Production is reported to be starting this month. Syfy‘s “upfront” – when they announce their upcoming schedule – is set for April 24, so we’ll soon see if Rewind is coming in 2012 or if we’ll be waiting for a while. We’ll let you know!
