Syfy Gives Green Light to The Lotus Caves Adaptation HIGH MOON

Syfy has now (finally) ordered a pilot for the adaptation of young adult sci-fi book The Lotus Caves to be entitled High Moon, executive produced by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Mockingbird Lane) and Robert Halmi Sr (Treasure Island, Neverland). We’ve been telling you about this project since April 2010, and it was part of Syfy‘s upfront presentation back in April of this year.

Deadline broke the news last night, reporting that it was expected to begin production in Vancouver this fall. “This is a fresh and compelling vision of an exotic new world driven by character, intrigue and greed,” Syfy’s president original content Mark Stern said.

Here’s what Syfy said about the project back in April:

High Moon – Based on the novel, The Lotus Caves, by John Christopher, this imaginative, out-of-this-world series explores a world where the countries of Earth have established colonies to mine the Moon’s resources. When a new life form is discovered, chaos erupts as various factions race to uncover its powerful secrets. Executive producer: Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies). Co-executive producer: Jim Danger Gray (Pushing Daisies). Writers: Bryan Fuller and Jim Danger Gray. Executive producer: Granat Entertainment. A production of Universal Cable Productions.

We’re always happy to hear about new scripted projects moving forward, especially with Bryan Fuller involvement. Congratulations to all!

We’ll keep you posted, as always.
