SyFy Fail: TIME Magazine Names SyFy Rebranding In Worst Top 10 Corporate Name Changes

The marketing geniuses over at the SyFy network may not have gotten this move right, according to Time Magazine. In Time’s “Worst Top 10 Corporate Name Changes” list, the magazine has named the former SciFi network’s name change to” SyFy” as the number three worst name change. Despite all of the network’s work in marketing testing and feedback, it seems that Time (and popular opinion) is that “SyFy” comes off as more like the network’s inability to spell.

Former network pres, Bonnie Hammer stated:

“We couldn’t own Sci Fi. But we can own SyFy.”

The rebranding of the network stems from their desire to be able to create an umbrella brand in which to market and expand on other forms of entertainment.
