We brought you the news back in September that Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment had announced that filming on Underworld 4 would begin in March of 2011 and Kate Beckinsale (The Trials of Cate McCullough) would officially reprise her role as Selene in the fourth installment of the Underworld franchise.

Now, THR reports that the Swedish directing team of Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein (Shelter) are currently in negotiations to direct the film, which will be produced by Len Wiseman (The World After), who directed the first two Underworld films.

John Hlavin (The Shield) penned the screenplay, which has since been revised by J. Michael Straczynski (World War Z).

Underworld 4 is slated to hit theaters on January 20th, 2012.
