SUPERNATURAL Spoilers! The Finale Is “Epic and Daunting” With a Cliffhanger Ending

If the deaths in the CW’s Supernatural’s last new episode, “…And Then There Were None” didn’t surprise you enough, there will be two more “unexpected deaths” in the last few episodes of season six. As Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) are gearing up to fight Eve, the Mother of all things that go bump in the night, all bets are off for the season finale. Juicy details about the season closer were revealed at PaleyFest.

Misha Collins, who plays the angel Castiel, calls Eric Kripke’s finale “epic and daunting:”

“It’s epic and daunting. The final confrontation is definitely not what anyone is expecting. It is, however, larger and more epic than the viewers are expecting.”

The season finale will be a two-episode, back-to-back presentation and will leave you hanging with a balls-to-the-walls cliffhanger. Kripke teases:

“It’s a cliffhanger, so everyone needs to be prepared that they’re going to be tearing their hair out all summer.”

Sam has a lot on his mind this season since Death put up a mental “wall” up in Sam’s mind to keep him from remembering what happened to him in Hell and the year he spent soulless when Death restored Sam’s soul to his body. Kripke confirms that Sam’s scratching at the scab of  a “wall” will come to a head:

“I will say we conclusively deal with Sam’s amnesia and the fact that he doesn’t remember what happened to him in hell. He’s got this bit of drywall in his head, but it’s a shabby, unstable piece of drywall and it’s only a matter of time before the wall falls down, and in the finale, the wall falls down.”

Padalecki talks about Sam’s inner battle:

“We’re saving the best for last — and the scariest for last. It does come down, and as Death warned, it’s a catastrophe. Sam has to battle something he’s never battled before, which is himself.”

And what about the amulet necklace that Dean tossed into the trash that according to Cas could “help find God”? Kripke dispels the comeback of this magical item:

“There are no plans to return the amulet.”

The sixth season finale will forge strength for the Winchester brothers. Kripke leaves this sentiment to close the season in wait for a seventh season order:

“We’re actually enjoying that, for the first time in a long time, the brothers are a really strong, cohesive unit, so we’re going to keep them like that for the foreseeable future.”

Supernatural returns with new episodes on the CW on April 15th at 9/8C.
